Event Information for All Divisions
All timed teams/individuals will start at the same time with the 14 mile bike ride, then the 3 mile run with the 14 mile horse ride being last. The recreational division will start after the timed division.
The bike’s and horses will go 7 miles west on the Flint Hills Nature Trail then come back. The runners will go 1.5 miles east on the Flint Hills Nature Trail then come back. There could be some overlap with horses and bikes on the west trail. If there is overlap it should be in a head on direction instead of bikes coming up behind the horses. Good Trail Etiquette is expected from all competitors.
It is recommended that horses and humans have foot protection and bicycles have tires appropriate for going over gravel. The Flint Hills Nature Trail is a rails to trails and the surface is not always smooth sailing.
A person can do all three legs themselves. This would be considered an individual entrant.
A team entry consists of a minimum of two competitors and a maximum of three competitors. It is encouraged that you put a team together yourself. Management will try to help group teams up if possible.
All competitors will check in with timers table before leaving on the next leg of the race. If you are a member of a team your teammate must be finished with their leg of the race before the next teammate can leave on their leg.
All competitors must check in with the timers table at the end of the race.
All competitors will fill out an entry form with a signed waiver. If you are on a team you will list your other team members on your form.
All competitors whether they are a team or individual will receive participation awards.
Event Rules for the Recreational Division
Each team/individual estimates their time on each desired leg (bike, run, horse) of the race. That estimated time is listed on the registration form.
All time keeping, GPS, tracking devices, etc., will be surrendered to event staff prior to the start of the race!
The team and individual finishing closest to the estimated time is declared the winner in their category.
Event Rules for the Timed Division
Each team and individual is placed by adding the time together for all legs of the race.
The fastest overall time is the winner for their category.
